SeeddeeS growing kit cork pot - Blue spruce
Grow your blue spruce (Picea pungens) easily in the cork pot with the included seeds. In other words: grow your own Christmas tree with SeeddeeS®! The blue spruce originates from the Rocky Mountains in America, where it can grow up to 30–40 meters tall. In our climate, it usually reaches a maximum height of about 6 meters. The tree belongs to the pine family and is often found near rivers or in areas with sufficient water. The germination process takes about 15 to 30 days, and the young plant should be watered regularly. In addition, it grows approximately 15 cm per year.
PS: The SeeddeeS® Christmas tree also makes a lovely gift!
Where should you plant the blue spruce?
At first, you grow it indoors into a small tree. When the blue spruce gets bigger, you can transplant it into your garden. Choose a spacious spot with partial shade. You can plant the blue spruce in the garden all year round, as long as there is no frost. The tree does not need pruning, which makes it very low-maintenance. When planting, keep in mind that it can grow up to 1.5 meters wide.

- The blue spruce, also known as Picea pungens, is often used as shelter and a nesting place by various bird species.
- It is widely used as a Christmas tree and therefore symbolizes warmth and light during the dark winter days.
- Its branches are often used to make wreaths in winter.
- The needles are covered with a kind of waxy layer. This is not without reason, it helps prevent the tree from drying out.
