Grow your marigold easily with the SeeddeeS® growing kit. Marigolds have beautiful summer colors that bring cheer to your garden. The great thing is that they are easy to sow and simple to care for without too much effort. So sowing marigolds is an excellent choice!
The marigold belongs to the daisy family, which also includes plants such as cornflower and sunflower. Start sowing indoors from March/April and always place them in a bright, sunny spot. From May onwards, you can transplant them into your garden or vegetable patch. Did you know they even help fight diseases in the vegetable garden? They are also very popular with butterflies and bees, which supports good biodiversity. Marigolds are used for multiple purposes: to add beautiful color to the garden and improve biodiversity, as decoration indoors, and in the vegetable garden to repel certain insects so your crops stay healthy.
How do I transplant marigolds (Tagetes)?
When you start sowing indoors around March/April, it is important that the temperature remains consistent and does not drop too much at night. Keep the soil well moist and wait for the seedlings to appear. If the seedlings grow quickly, transplant them into larger pots. When planting them outside in May, be mindful of frost and try to avoid it. To prepare them, you can let them gradually get used to outdoor temperatures over several days. When transplanting, keep about 30 cm of space between the flowers and place them in a sunny spot. Enjoy the bright, sunny colors of marigolds from May through October.
