SeeddeeS growing kit cork pot - Cornflower

Grow your cornflower easily in the cork pot from SeeddeeS® with the included seeds. The cornflower belongs to the daisy family, which is characterized by many small flowers growing closely together. It is an annual plant that can grow up to 60 cm tall and is often found in the wild in meadows. Unfortunately, it has become quite rare.

The advantage of the cornflower is that it is easy to grow and requires little care apart from a bit of love, of course 😉. The flowers attract many butterflies and bees, which is only natural thanks to their beautiful bright blue color! You can start growing cornflowers from March onwards, and transplant them outdoors in May. This can be in the garden, in a flowerpot, or in containers on your balcony.

Making herb butter with cornflowers

An extra tip from SeeddeeS®: Make your own delicious herb butter using the petals of your home-grown cornflowers. What do you need:

15 cornflowers (use only the petals)
2 cloves of garlic, crushed
Optional: a handful of parsley for extra flavor
150 grams of butter (at room temperature)
Sea salt

Mix all the ingredients together. Then roll the mixture in plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator until firm. Delicious to spread on a baguette or fresh bread.

Coir tablet (1x)
Glassine packet with approx. 0.4 g cornflower seeds (1x)

Gebruiksaanwijzing

Step 1

Place the coco tablet in the cork pot.

Step 2

Pour sufficient water over the coco tablet and let it swell until it has absorbed enough.

Step 3

Sprinkle the seeds evenly over the soil, leaving enough space between the seeds.

Step 4

Give sufficient water but not too much.

Step 5

Place it in a partially sunny spot.

Step 6

Germination can begin; this may take 7 to 14 days.

Step 7

From May onwards, you can transplant the cornflowers outside so that they have more space to continue growing and you can enjoy them longer.

Weetjes

De korenbloem bloeit van juni tot en met augustus. Door regelmatig uitgebloeide bloemen weg te knippen, stimuleer je de plant om nog meer nieuwe bloemen aan te maken.

Plant ze op een lichte, zonnige plek met goed doorlatende grond. Te natte grond kan wortelrot veroorzaken. Geef alleen water bij langdurige droogte.

De sap van de korenbloem werd vroeger gebruikt als inkt en als kleurstof voor linnen.

Ja! Korenbloemen blijven juist lang mooi in een vaas, extra lang genieten dus!
