Tending a garden takes time and energy: preparing the soil, planting seeds, moving from pot to garden, watering, weeding and then harvesting. And of course planting new seeds every year to keep the garden nicely filled.
It’s the same at Corthogreen B.V., the family business of Thomas and Corné Huntink behind the SeeddeeS® brand. The roots of the company go back to 1888, but there was always one seed that hadn’t been planted: a brand of its own for retail growing products. In the past, Corthogreen B.V. had this with the brand Bulten Zaden, but not for a long time. The new retail brand started with an idea over a cup of coffee and has since grown into a fully‑fledged brand with customers throughout Europe. Most SeeddeeS products are produced in Terborg (Netherlands). The company uses local suppliers and colleagues from the region: everyone participates to help the brand grow. From local entrepreneurship, Corthogreen B.V. wants to further grow SeeddeeS internationally.
Passion for entrepreneurship and sustainable growth
Thomas and Corné share the passion for entrepreneurship and sustainable growth. As the second generation in the family business – their father Theo took over in 1994 – they want to further develop the company.
“Growth is not an end in itself, but the result of the beautiful steps we take together with our colleagues,” says Thomas. Delivering good quality products is very important in this respect, both in terms of the products themselves and the service to customers.

We had long had the idea of developing our own brand. A unique brand that has to stand out in the store or garden centre and add value for young and old. SeeddeeS® helps young and old with sowing, growing and gardening. It has to be fun and simple to grow with these products! That we were able to develop this brand within a year with our own colleagues fits with Corthogreen B.V. and the flexibility we want to offer customers.
Corné
From Corthogreen we want to develop an international brand with which consumers can grow with pleasure. In the past we had our own vegetable garden and grew all kinds of vegetables and herbs. SeeddeeS® will, through animations and information, help make growing easy. This will also create more awareness among people for the environment and nature.
